Authorship
Articles in the Insights section of Z-M Intelligence are written by Aaron Joel Lewis, Director of Z-M Advanced Technologies, unless explicitly bylined otherwise. AI tools are used to assist with source summarisation and drafting; all arguments, stances, and conclusions are the author's. The director reviews and approves every published piece before it appears.
Where a piece is contributed by an invited external author — our Directors' Voices guest publication programme — that author's name, photograph, role, and company appear prominently, and the same editorial standards apply.
Attribution
Every published article carries a Referencesblock at the end, numbered, with publisher, title, URL, and date accessed. We never reference a source's medium inside the body of a piece — no "in a recent video", no "at minute twelve", no parenthetical URL spam. Substance gets cited; container does not appear.
Quotes from external sources are kept short (under 50 words) and attributed by name or publisher. Longer passages are paraphrased in our voice with a numbered reference back to the source.
Sources
Every entry in the Library carries a rights stance: public domain, CC0, CC BY 4.0, an Open Government Licence, or link-only. We host what we have a documented right to host; we link to the rest. The source registry is published in full; we do not curate from sources we cannot defend.
Restricted, partnership-only, member-network-only, and classified material — including AUKUS working papers and FOI'd documents not subsequently posted to a public Disclosure Log — are refused. The full Defence Content Policy is explained in the methodology page.
AI-assistance disclosure
We use large language models, including Anthropic's Claude, for two specific things: summarising source material(the Source Digest tool) and drafting articles in the director's voice (the Director Voice Writer, built on a curated corpus of the director's existing writing).
Both tools run on infrastructure the company controls. Drafts are checked against a written voice guide and a banned-term lint before any human review. Final publication requires the director's manual approval.
We do not use AI to fabricate facts, generate fictional sources, write under a fake byline, or pass off uncredited material from third parties. Where the AI-assisted draft would weaken or distort what the source said, we override the model and write the passage by hand.
Corrections
If we publish a factual error, we correct it in place and add a dated correction note at the end of the article. The previous wording is preserved in our internal version history so the correction is itself part of the public record.
Takedowns
If a rights-holder believes we have published something we shouldn't have, contact director@zmatc.com.au. We acknowledge within 24 hours, review with counsel, and either restore with a justification or retract with a dated notice that remains visible. We never silently remove material.
Independence
The Library accepts Founding Partners — selected organisations that receive complimentary membership in exchange for a logo placement on the landing page. Founding Partner status grants no editorial influence. The partnership letter expressly preserves Z-M's editorial independence; partners do not see drafts before publication and do not have veto power.
Z-M Advanced Technologies operates in the Defence-industry adjacency. Where a published piece touches that adjacency directly, the conflict is disclosed in the article footer.
